چکیده
We obtain stochastic inequalities, error bounds, and classification probability for a general class of distributions. We introduce the notion of variability ordering via the probability functional and comparisons made for the weighted and the original distributions. We present moment inequalities, comparisons, and applications. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. 62N05, 62B10.

A Note on Probability Weighted Moment Inequalities for Reliability Measures
Weighted distributions in general and length-biased distributions in particular are very useful and convenient for the analysis of lifetime data. These distributions occur naturally for some sampling plans in reliability, ecology, biometry and survival analysis. In this note an increasing failure rate property for lifetime distributions is used to define a natural ordering of the weighted relia...
متن کاملSome stochastic inequalities for weighted sums
We compare weighted sums of i.i.d. positive random variables according to the usual stochastic order. The main inequalities are derived using majorization techniques under certain log-concavity assumptions. Specifically, let Yi be i.i.d. random variables on R+. Assuming that log Yi has a log-concave density, we show that ∑ aiYi is stochastically smaller than ∑ biYi, if (log a1, . . . , log an) ...
متن کاملSome General Notions of Stochastic Orderings for Weighted Reliability and Uncertainty Measures with Applications
In this note, stochastic comparisons of reliability measures and related functions are presented. Inequalities for uncertainty of a residual life distribution and certain modified cross-entropy or discrimination information measures under weighted models are established. Comparisons of the expected uncertainty about the remaining lifetime of a component for weighted conditional distributions an...
متن کاملInequalities and Approximations of Weighted Distributions by Lindley Reliability Measures, and the Lindley-Cox Model with Applications
In this note, stochastic comparisons and results for weighted and Lindley models are presented. Approximation of weighted distributions via Lindley distribution in the class of increasing failure rate (IFR) and decreasing failure rate (DFR) weighted distributions with monotone weight functions are obtained including approximations via the length-biased Lindley distribution. Some useful bounds a...
متن کاملA stochastic version analysis of an M/G/1 retrial queue with Bernoulli schedule
In this work, we derive insensitive bounds for various performance measures of a single-server retrial queue with generally distributed inter-retrial times and Bernoulli schedule, under the special assumption that only the customer at the head of the orbit queue (i.e., a FCFS discipline governing the flow from the orbit to the server) is allowed to occupy the server. The method...
